Okay guys, I got the dagger-board fixed - it's not pretty but it works and it's stronger than before because I added a layer of glass to the damaged edge. Now I don't need to worry about dinging up the dagger-board because it's already been dinged up so I can plow right on and not care about how it looks anymore:

I also fixed the rudder bracket - I pressed it back into shape in the right positions and it's nice and tight just like the other one with no slop - back to the way is was. Since I was removing rudders I decided to go ahead and put the "My Blue Heaven" mod on the rudder ropes and put blockes on them - now they are very easy to raise:

Finally, I know all you guys who single hand your MAC have this special Genoa Track Car for your Genoa so you can operate it from the helm seat:

I have it too, but it made me think . . . . .

What about the main??? Why can't we have the same convienence for the main sheet that we have for the Genoa?? So, I installed this block and cam cleat at the base of the wheel house:

Now I can just pull on the main sheet right from the helm and cleat it off right there - and it did not require any modification to the original main sheet block at all, in fact you can still use the original if you want - the angle of the new block keeps the rope out of the original cam cleat on the companionway traveler:

And if your like me sometimes when I am racing or trying to pass another boat I like to have the feel of the mainsheet in my hand - it's lets me adjust for the greatest pressure and best speed , so with this new block I can hold the main sheet in my hand if I want too:

So that's it! Repairs all done and all the damage causes by "my fault" has all been corrected and I'm ready to go again.

Thanks for your help!

Nice clean mod with good functionality. What are the other two functions of the mod, as required by Mac law?

What, you can't shift the traveller from the helm? What good is that? Two yards from the end zone and you sit down? :|

Just kidding, of course. That's a sweet mod. Well done. 8)

Nice and simple. I've always draped the sheet over the throttle. Incan see how your mod word work well for some folks.

I kept having a hard time releasing the main. I had to get up and out from behind the helm to get it to un cleat. Even Mike Inmon told me that a lot of people turn that part of the mainsheet block upside down so that it is an UP motion to release the main instead of a DOWN motion which for me is like touching my toes - not real easy anymore.

The other thing is that I would not use this when there are more than two people on the boat because it makes crossing the cockpit a little more clumsy. It's strictly for those times when the wife is below and I'm up there all alone.

GREAT MOD! Sadly my three kids would always be tangled up in it, so I use my 1' of rope between the traveler and the mainsheet, but now I'm seriously considering a cam-cleat on the side of the helm just to hold it for me...

Plus HOLY COW that boat is clean.

For as much as we have abused it in such a short period of time I'm suprized too at how clean it is. I think they put three extra layers of gel coat on the thing! I keep smashing it and it won't scratch!

Laws of MAC Mods:

1. it must make the boat go slower
2. it must make the 'Admiral' happy

I blew it on number one, I think the wife will like it though.

You forgot #3: It must complicate rigging and de-rigging.
