To Admiral and others:
-The water ballast will not be 1200 lbs. It will be appr 1390 lbs as there are place for appr 80 liter more water where the permanent ballast is.
-As you say the speed when motoring was reduced by the keel with around 2 knots with the permanent ballast still there. When I take it away I think the reduction will be only 1 knot.
-The big thing with the keel is the better sailing especially at upwind sailing. Higher into the wind and reduced leeway. The lift is bettered about 35 %, due to the higher aspect ratio and bigger projected area.
