All apologies to Darry, but I liked his photo so much, I had to try and make a watercolor of it. I can only hope I did it some sort of justice.

Hey, at least you didn't Richard Prince it....beautiful
Again, I hope I don't offend the original photographer, but I felt my painting did not have enough life in it, so I took artistic license, and worked on it.

Last week on the ICW. Still early enough in the season to catch the sunset without bugs!

Hi Ray,
I am not a visual image artist like yourself but am in the audio music side of the fine arts, so I understand first hand the right brain creative talent required to execute what you have created from my photo. Beautiful work, just beautiful!
One of my passions is art/history, albeit more 15th century renaissance stretching maybe to Titian or Giotto, and have been fortunate to have seen many great works in Europe, and although I honestly don't understand the subtleness of water color I have seen Monet's Water Lillies at the Musee de l'Orangerie in Paris so I can appreciate water color for the shear beauty of technique.
I like the changes you made in the second version to create more depth and contrast, most apparent on the deck. My understanding is that an artist never truly finishes any piece, but mearly runs out of time to stop tinkering. As I understand it, DaVinci never did finish the portrait of Madonna Lisa Gherardini (Mona Lisa) but he carried it with him for the last five years of his life adding a stroke here and there every few months.
But like any piece of musical recording art, at some point any artist must say that's it I'm done - even though the piece may not be complete (to the artist eye) - it may be be finished but never complete.
With your permission I'd like to print out your work to hang in my sailing room at home.

So, if I understand correctly, if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it
I know, I know. Baroque is 17th & 18th century, not 15th

Pulling into Sailboat Cove on Smithville Lake, MO as the sun goes down last Sunday. The Admiral made dinner in the galley as we approached and we docked in a courtesy slip to eat and watch the sunset from the cockpit before pulling off the lake.

that's a striking photo. What did you use? Cel phone? Or something with a lens bigger than a pencil lead?

You're a lucky man. My admiral tolerates the annual sunset event, but it's just not her thing.

Same with mine. I'm grateful she came out this day. Heck; I'm grateful she comes out any day
She missed a hull of a sunset on that middle one. That should be a lesson to 'em all
All photo's dun on an iPhone 6s+ in a Lifeproof case; point & shoot.

Gee you guys miss out, my partner almost races me to the boat, she is a helpful and willing crew, taking the helm and helping springer us of jetties if we need it, I even get to go up to the bow and hang my feet over the edge for a while when we are sailing, i had never done that before, what a great feeling.
Of course everything isnt perfect, she isnt so good at helping me set up or pack down, and is normally chatting to someone instead of guiding me back down the ramp
