Sounds like a fun idea, a boat in the Keys or East Coast. When considering to purchase the new Tattoo while the base price does include items that the MacGregor did not, you still need to add things to make the boat compleate. Engine, Headsail, Stove, Pottie, Electronics, and any canvas or grab handles. The new Tattoo 26 is real nice, the fit and finish is beautiful and the new cushions pretty and comfortable! Adding new electronics and a new engine, like the Suzuki high thrust 60 that is just coming out now, will make the boat far superior to a used boat but at a higher price. A fairly new MacGregor with the right equipment may be a good choice if you want to save money, but choosing to go with a new boat gives you the warranty, new equipment, and a clean new boat! Also one thing to consider when purchasing a used boat is taking a good look at the motor, you want to have one that is reliable! Last thing you want is a motor problem when you need the motor!

I saw some weird stuff in some pictures in a Tattoo article - it looked like the boat had a canvas zipper door for the head instead of a wooded door?? (The picture may have been misleading)

And they 'attempted' to add some flush lighting over the dinette but it looks like they ran a pipe on the surface of the ceiling to power it! (The whole point of a "flush" fixture is that it is "FLUSH") I thought that was weird.

The price for the boat with motor was I think just under 43 grand brand new with a motor.

Anyways, in the spirit of the actual name of this forum post title i thought I would pass it along. I saw it in some magazine I never heard of called "Pacific Nor' West Boating" (strange name) anyways - that's it.

Thanks for the heads up on the article, it was good and had some new pictures of the new boat. I agree about the head door, it looks like the new bathroom door might be some type of canvas that you zip up. Looking at the overall options and pricing for the new Tatto, I think anyone who currently owns a M or an X just made some money. If I was going to sell my Mac (which I did several years ago, and regret it everyday) you would have to ask for more money than last year. $43,000.00 seems like a lot of money for basically the same boat.

Engine we don`t need no stinking Engine.????.

If I was going to buy another boat without an Engine.. A Mac or tattoo motorsailers would be my last choice.
I was hoping that maybe tattoo would start building another boat similar to the original 26d or 26c a real sailboat, which can win a race or sail close to the wind.
I also sold my 26-X 21/2 years ago. Everyday that goes by I regret it. The empty spot under my deck is A horrible reminder. Especially for my Cat who spent most of the winters in the gas tank storage compartment.

Still waiting for the tattoo 22. Sure glad I didn't waste my time going to the Annapolis boat show.. Anybody know if its going to be at the Chicago or Cleveland boat show. Very interested, especially since my brother wants to pay for half.

One really bad depression like the one we just experienced could be the end of the Tattoo 22 - I wish they would hurry up and get it produced.

I read this funny…if it is a wooded door, does that mean on my M i sh*t in the woods :P How about a heavily wooded door :D Sorry, hopefully I'm not laughing alone :| I know there's a cutting timber joke in here somewhere...

no insult taken - yuk yuk an' all that - so what's up with the door on the head? Tattoo making a tent on the head?

It's good timing because I am just starting to put my woodworking and motor-home building skills to work on re-configuring the head on 'boat' now.

I like BIG bathrooms on my rigs. I built a very custom sliding pocket door setup in my van motor-home where I close off the entire rear five feet of the van into a full bath that has hot water shower, sink, toilet, and a 5 foot couch for the ladies.

I will be converting the forward five feet of 'boat' in similar fashion. Still working on the drawings right now.

So I've pulled the trigger on this to tide me over for a few years before we put a boat on the east coast:

http://www.hobiecat.com/mirage/mirage-tandem-island/

Its on a trailer small enough to park in my tiny yard and hand-wrestle around to hook up, and can also be launched off the beach by my house. So should allow for those four-hour sailing days that the Mac is both too far and too much rigging to accomodate.

That's the goal anyway.

Pacific Nor'Westing Magazine did a nice job on a review for the Tattoo 26, November issue cover picture a Tattoo under sail. This magazine is a local Washington magazine, online only now. The name comes from being in the Pacific Northwest. The review was done on Blue Water Yachts new Tattoo 26. Some of the info was not correct, pricing and size of motor we now offer will be changing, it is difficult to get magazines to write everything exactly as you would want. But all in all the review was good. Yes, the head door shown was a vinyl zip around peice, already changed to a vinyl curtain. Yes, we would have liked to see the boat keep the solid door to the head, they did not ask us! Maybe the door will change again. Our boat show boats are shipping next week, you can check out the new Tattoo 26 at both the Portland and Seattle Boat Shows in January.

Very cool. Would love to hear your review of it first hand. It's a tempting craft.

I'd love to know if that table top will
a) fit as a direct replacement for the M's (06)...and
b) can I order one?

Also where will you mount the furnace with the curtain being a potential hazard?
