I was looking for floating and intact. Good hull etc. i found that. Un fettered. Pretty happy. Lots seem to think i overpaid. 9k for broken engine, no trailer, good condition overall, but needs a few things. Ropes and forestay disnt look good and engine to get me on the water. Tell ya though. Trailering was my biggest concern and that tandem trailer aluminum with disc brakes tows like its not even there. And it doesnt need work. We'll see how it launches. Its not as low as stock. But the bigh tires let me roll over the curb easily even towing with a minivan.
Oh yea, and last captain must have been a big guy, i need to reenforce the rear seat.
I go with the idea, whether buying cars, antiques or boats. Theres availability and your desire to own making the supply and demand. Cant argue that price a is better than price b if you arent willing or able to travel 3000 miles to get price A. Theyre toys, not investments.

Dinghy, GPS, electronic anemometer, marine network, and stern rail seats were $3K of it. Misc. hardware another $1K. Easy to drop those boat bucks if you're not paying attention.island808 wrote:

The trick is to not add up the bucks and not buy on credit.
Still don't have my engine, but it's "in the mail". Plenty of interest in the old engine being sold as-is... But still sorting out the flakes from the buyers.
Got all my rigging done, practicing stepping the mast and rigging sails in my yard. Handy to have old sails to play with without worrying about doing something stupid to your only sails. Though I catch the neighbors watching me.
Venture trailer was worth the bucks as far as towing goes, we'll see how it launches and retrieves.
Thanks for all the help folk.
