Bubba,

If you don't mind can you also take some pics of these jack lines and their slides that you are referring to. I know I have never seen or heard of these before this thread...probably others haven't either.

Thanks,
Jim

As I noted earlier, we were able to get the mainsail cover on with the slides stacked above the sail slide stopper. The challenge with this is that it puts a lot of pressure on that sail stopper. We started with a bungee and this typically resulted in the pressure pulling the bungee down, even though it was leveraged over the cleats, and some of the slides coming out. We moved to a sail slide stopper and it now sleeps with the fishies as it popped out when removing the sail ties to deploy the sail at sea. You have nothing but the mainsail and boom to hold onto and grabbing the top of the sail was too much for the sail slide stopper.

In talking to Gail at BWY, she mentioned that they have a "gate" that will allow the slides to go all the way down - hallelujah!!!! I will report on its effectiveness once it arrives but have very high hopes for this.

I always hated the slug stopper for the reasons mentioned. My solution was to get rid of it and drill holes just above the track gate. I put a 3/16" fast pin through the holes and viola! No stopper problems. The slugs just sit on top of the pin which can take ample load. I can quikcly remove it to drop slugs for reefing.

The piece of hardware from BWY sounds interesting. Please post a picture when you get and how you like it.
