Sum and Ruth,
I like your storage units. They look good and are obviously practical. Like your site and adventures too! Keep up the good work!

We chose buying a used

because we found one that had been extensively and expertly modified with all kinds of great mods. The centerboard is important to us because of the places we like to go. Last year in the Apostle Islands, we hit a huge sandbar and the centerboard just lifted and the rudder hold down cleats just popped loose as designed. No damage! We went on over the bar and were sailing again. The waves were 4' and winds strong so it would have caused great trouble if a daggerboard had broken or stuck. Something similar happened in Kentucky lake the summer before. I like the centerboard and am willing to trade off a bit of sailing quality for it.
We also love sleeping in the V-Berth. We've sleep many nights there and only a few in the aft. The aft berth seems low and hard to get in and out of and there isn't a breeze. Its nice to look up and see the mast in the moonlight. One other advantage to the X is that the head has enough space under it to put a shower drain and it's plumbing. We often shower in the cockpit if in remote locations but it's also nice to have a little shower inside for cold mornings or in crowded places.
I do love the spacious feel of the M and it would be a better choice if we had visitors a lot. It is usually just the two of us and the X seems the perfect pocket cruiser for long trips. I would also like the better hull shape of the M. I think it would be more stable. I won't trade though!
