Actually, I think the count is somewhere around 14,000. We do have a lot of great sailing lakes for larger boats, it's just that the ones near major cities are crowded and slips are expensive.Rick Westlake wrote:But there are 9,999 other lakes in your state
Your right, I'm not unhappy with the Mac, it's the facilities at our local lakes that frustrate me. Docks are too busy to use for set up or they are floating and subject to wakes. Most of the ramps are run buy the DNR and I just assume they would be apposed to cutting any trees. One private marina on a lake that boats great for sailing does not allow sailboats 26' and over to launch, and none on weekends or holidays. When I get my bottom painted I will most likely get a slip about 1 1/2 hrs away and I will be happy.
