If you have a ventilation problem you can also wire in a little 12v fan to help when needed, on our hot days this really helps.

If we're talking fans, the best ones going are the Hella "Turbo Jet" fans. They are *MUCH* lower in energy consumption and are very quiet. They're a little more expensive than others, but you can get good deals on them on eBay from time to time.

Do you keep the wood panel and cushion seat on top of it for extended periods while the Engel is powered on? Has it overheated? Also, I have shore power but no outlet nearby. I do have a DC outlet. Any problem with powering the Engel from the DC outlet while the battery is being charged via shorepower?

Thanks.

i have the Engel 35 in the cutout box on board.
i place the stock seat panel on top like OEM for extended periods.
no overheating problems here. remember...i use the Engel in the back of my Volvo SUV to store/chill groceries when not in the Mac. no problems even when inside car temp reaches 100+.
my Engel is always powered by a DC outlet (on Mac and in car), unless i take it into a hotel room for the nite while traveling.
while on Mac at dock, i plug in shore power to charge batteries, and run the engel via DC.

Thanks for your replies guys. Both seem like good solutions that worked in both cases. Gotta love this device. Thanks again.
