For a live aboard and providing that she's in good shape with good sail's etc. She might well work for for the dollar....
I would think that boat is a much better solution to the problem. Assuming all things, being equal, pretty she may not be, but for living aboard she looks a lot more inviting than a Mac.
For a day on the road a Camaro can be fun to drive. A pick-up with a camper in the back works for a weekend. But if I was going to be gone for months, I think I too would be looking at an older class A motor home in good mechanical order. Again maybe not pretty in my price range but usable much more usable.

But that is one beautiful marina, what do you think the monthly nut is to keep something that size there?

Columbia River, Puget Sound, Florida Keys, and Matagorda Bay,Texas. Places I have had my 26X in one 12 month period of time. Try that in a 20' trimaran.
Places yet to be visited Windward and Leeward islands, Bay Islands Honduras, Rio Dulce River, Princess Louisa Inlet, Sacramento Delta, Nova Scotia, prince Edward Island.,,,,,for now
Their Are better boats than the Mac. But not for my intended use.

I never thought about, the fact that , then after this new voyage and at age say 70y.o.a. you might still be desiring to tow the boat 1000 to 2000 miles across hill mountain plain and desert to go sailing. With that in mind, leave her intact and make her good to go for the purposes intended, so as to equip her for yet another adventure upon your return.

My stepfather sold his old steel hull shrimper(73') to a retired airline pilot who cut the rigging off, ripped out the reefer and turned it into a trawler and took off. Why not look at a smaller one(40-50') and do likewise?

WHISKY or in gaelic 'uisge beatha' (water of life) can certainly tolerate the addition of the letter "E" I suppose, but don't be caught adding anything else. Well, maybe a wee drop of fresh highland spring water would be OK.
As for the colleen comment............Hhmmm, this might be grounds for another uprising !!!!

2 1/2 years in Mexico on a 27' sail boat never once in a marina.
Charlie Chaplin fathered a child at 67, much as I like the activity I am not jealous of him.
How well you maintain any engine is up to you. With the average outboard you don't have to worry about running to lean or icing.

New Tohatsu 18 HP here. Ordered it by phone 4:15 PM Friday From outfit in Tenn., delivered to house 9:30 AM Monday. Still waiting on Solar panels and fuel tanks.
Tohatsu 50 HP 1996 all controls Tach. and Tilt. 200-300 hrs. for sale.
Two more gin and tonics and I might give it away.
