That is the old Havencraft enclosure. It is designed to allow you to sail with both the dodger and the bimini up. The only change required was moving the mainsheet bail from the end of the boom forward to allow the sheet to clear the front of the bimini. Other than that the dodger and bimini should both be low enough to allow sailing once the connector panel is removed.

Real nice photos. The boat lift set up will definately be a plus for you and the Admiral's Summer sailing fun.

Im not sure if I messaged this to you previously, but check out www.betterbay.org The site has some interesting links for our sailing area.

edit note: Eric--for some reason, I had to type in the web site from my Home Page. It wouldnt display when clicking on from this thread.

Must agree, great photos and interesting summary of the sailing.

Thinking of putting a spayhood on fifty fifty but was thinking it may impair going forward. Looking at your full enclosure It strikes me that it must be difficult?

That's great, thanks, Eric! May I ask, how is that deck secured to the boat, and can it be removed easily?

Other notes:

-- That's some nice hail you have there!!
-- What's that rope going up around the bow of the boat and to the mast?

Your vang is probably 4:1, the standard dealer-option item. Garhauer is the main rigging supplier to both Macgregor and Catalina. They sell high-quality stainless rigging at very low prices (since they don't do all the R&D or Marketing of Harken, Schaefer or Ronstan). Just guessing, about 15% of Macs have upgraded to Garhauer's RV.

Go down their catalog page to find Rigid Vangs. Available at $250 in 12:1 purchase, your choice of length. Phone them direct and explain the positioning of your dodger. They operate partly like a job shop ... it might take them 4 to 6 weeks, but they'll make up anything you ask for at catalog pricing.

Garhauer Buying example: I coveted Harken's two-speed mainsheet, 3:1 and 6:1, which would be ideal for a mid-boom traveler, but it was priced at a half-boatbuck. Phoned Garhauer to ask if they make one and the receptionist said, "Hold please, you need to speak with Guido." When he got to the phone and heard my plans, he asked height of my planned traveler, suggested how I'd want the dual-cleats arranged ... six weeks later it arrived, custom fabricated, cleats welded to match my installation, $150.
