Now there's an idea. Nov 4-7 is the big sailboat show in St Petersburg, then the next weekend (Nov 12-14), we could have the regatta in Tampa Bay, then head on down to party with the Miami Macs for the next weekend...and still be home in plenty of time for Thanksgiving!
For those with plenty of time, sounds like the perfect 3 week sailing getaway

November is usually a terrific month for sailing Florida.

Guess it's a grumble of sorts, but that would be about 5 weeks total, starting from California. Would love to sail off FL though. Add two more weeks and include Bimini to the itinerary !!! (But, November begins hurricane weather, eh?)

Nope, November 30 is the official
end to hurricane season, however, risk is usually pretty much gone by Nov 15 when the strong westerlies make it hard for storms to remain strong by the Tampa latitude. I usually start letting down my hurricane guard by end of October really....although October itself can be the worst month for Tampa hurricanes (especially mid Sept - mid Oct)...due to light westerlies pulling them into the West coast of Florida. Very rare to have big November storms this far North.
I think people in this thread originally suggested having regional regattas, but hey, if you West coasters want a reason to sail Florida......I'm sure it would be a memorable trip! Keep in mind that you can always jump on an airplane and crew with an East coaster instead.
