porta boat

We have a porta boat. Just used it on a 600 mile trip from Labelle FL thru the Okeechobee Waterway west to the Gulf, down to Long Key, up the east coast to Stuart, back into the Okeechobee waterway across Lake Okeechobee and to Labelle where we left the trailers. It worked well sailing. Not very good motoring. It raises in the front at 6 mph and eventually swamps. Had to dump it 3 times. It really creates a lot of drag. Finally folded it and put it along the port side secured to the pulpit and stantions. Rode there very well. It's easy to stow below while trailering. We arnt real happy with it...but cant think of anything that would work better. An inflatable doesnt seem real safe in Gator territory and a wooden one would be hard to stow when towing with the motorhome. Did see a Macgregor 26 at Pumpkin Key with a foldaboat also.
