I discussed this with my Texas Farm Bureau Ins. agent yesterday, and he says I'm covered through my Auto policy when trailering. With the added $59. annual added premium, Im now covered $500,000. liability when on the water and otherwise not being trailered, through my home/ranch policy.
So I cant understand why the other posts in this thread show insurance fees so high. Why dont you consider going through your homeowners' coverage for much, much, less $$$ ?

Slamjammer...I did question my agent closely (a Rice Univ. Graduate), and he assures me that the homeowners "liabiality" is covered "when the boat isnt being trailered". But as you said...I do plan to research further which should "always" be done in such important matters. My video and dvd claim that most homeowners' policies cover liability of the Mac also.
And thanks for the advice :!:
Im wondering if any others have any knowledge of homeowners liability coverage for the Mac, if coverage includes on the water, etc. ??

I have my liability coverage through my homeowners Ins. on my 25 11 sailboat at the harbor. The coverage applies if the auxiliary is under 15hp and the length less than 26 feet. I found this in the sections you never get with your policy but the agent sent it when the marina demanded confirmation on the coverage to qualify for dockage.

A few years and a different boat ago our marina cought fire on a windy week day in early spring. Nearly four hundred feet of covered slips and a few hundred feet of uncovered were consumed in eight minutes, destroying millions of dollars in vessels. We were on board that day and were the only vessel to escape the marina under our own power. At the end of that turmoil filled day we arrived home to find a message on our answering machine from the Boat U.S. Insurance disvision, saying that they understood we had a boat at that marina, that they would have adjusters at the marina the following several days, and to call them if there was anything they could do. We were fortunate not to need their services, and thoroughly impressed by an insurance company which calls you before you call them. Our costs for 2006 were $255 for our 2005 M.

Confirming similar accounts I've read (here and elsewhere) of exemplary servicing by BoatUS. It's a big reason I checked first with them, and they've been my only carrier. I empathasize with those in regions now apparently excluded from favor or coverage by BoatUS.
