Interesting concept."The concept is that as you warm up the atmosphere, it is able to hold more water and the next thunderstorm can then take that moisture," he said. "So there is a direct link between these heavy rainfalls and climate change."

But the lake levels did not drop, so your analogy wouldn't explain what actually happened.dlandersson wrote:You could also argue that as the atmosphere holds more water, there is less water deposited and the lake level should drop![]()

Not getting into a climate warming debate (again), I just want a cleaner, less polluted environment for my kids and grandkids (yep Im going to be a Grandparent at the ripe old age of 55) to grow up in, that should be enough for anyone
Life's good from this side of the threshold. I became a Grandparent (Diedukas in Lithuanian, so I'm 'Papa Duke') at the ripe old age of 58.sailboatmike wrote:. . . (yep Im going to be a Grandparent at the ripe old age of 55) . . .

We are likely too old to derive the full effects, IMHO, but our grandchildren will. Some of the comments in this forum might outlive us, and perhaps our grandchildren will determine our position on such isues some day. It's not global warming that will be damned.Global warming and political correctness be damned.
Ummmm, that was supposed to be funny. Lake levels here at least are due to lots and lots of rain plus snow melt. PC is because her life jacket is pink, and so is the new one. See the teeny tiny print at the bottom of my post.Phil M wrote:I'm looking forward to sailing with my grandchildren as well this summer.

Mate your gender stereotyping with the pink, surely a gender neutral colour would be far more correct and let the girl / boy or whatever they decide sex they may or may not like to define their self asTomfoolery wrote: political correctness be damned.
Congrats on the little ones , I didn't know you were a Jugo.....Svieks! ( I think you guys use that, if not pretend it's Estonian/Latvia)Tomfoolery wrote:Life's good from this side of the threshold. Prior to boarding. First time on a boat. Fat guy in the Tilley is rumored to be the owner of a very fast white hulled MacGregor.
Fresh from a diaper change below decks at the dock.
Looking forward to more boating with her this summer. Even bought the next-size-up life jacket already. In pink. Global warming and political correctness be damned.
My son took the pics, so I don't have any of the three together on the boat.Next time.
Just trying to steer clear of the political minefield of AGW.
