Sounds like someone's trying to start something.... I'm in !

Judas Priest ! Now that there are hoops to jump through... We could go with Tx's suggestion by having the words: "Macgregor Sailors" imprinted... "Macgregor" arched on the top of the oval and "Sailors" on the bottom.

That shouldn't get anyone's panties in a wad... wad it ?

I vote for a tartan-clad Waterbago medallion that's reversible, with a Mac trawler emblem on the obverse.

That way everybody should be happy. Right?

Anything come from this?

I would gladly pay for an SS oval shaped plaque with "MacGregor 26" like the OEM only nicer. From what I read here, there are others who would also.
Please please pretty please.

I don't own a ship. My boat has lots of SS parts. It's 2014.

As for copyright. Roger doesn't sell boats anymore. If he has a problem with making his boats look better and wants to sue for it, that would make him look like a real ass hat.

Don't cha hate lawyers?
This is actually one of the rare cases where there's nothing to worry about. "MacGregor" is a trademark, and you can legally use it to "mark" a "MacGregor" trade item. As long as the boat is an actual MacGregor, there is zero legal issue here.

Michael "Irafatsar" is in my Marina. If he doesn't answer up soon, I'll leave a note on his boat :o

Update:
I have two brothers. One works for a major aircraft company and the other is a graphic designer. Plan A was to have the brother that works with aircraft to use their computer metal machine to create the logos in metal. Plan B is to have the graphic designer brother to recreate the graphic needed to send to a website bumper sticker printing company to print for me.

I received from the aircraft brother the 2 metal replacements for my worn out logos and installed them on each side of the boat. It just doesn't look good. Even though "Macgregor 26M" is deeply engraved in the metal, in full sun light it is difficult to see. I mean it looks better than the rolled up, worn out sticker, but it's not what I expected. It WAS free, so I hope my brother doesn't find this forum. He used a brush polished metal design. A slick stainless steel would have been much better, I think.

So I turned to Plan B, the graphic design brother. I sent the graphic he sent me to several online bumper sticker websites and the quotes I received were anywhere from $250 to $400. The high price is due to the irregular size of the oval sticker (3" high x 13 1/2" wide). If it was one of their normal templates it would be much cheaper.

So where do we go from here? Unless one of you brilliant fabricators step forward, I guess I will just wait for BWY to find a vendor and purchase their stickers.

I still think it's a good place for an oval port hole :P

How much does your brother charge to make another set? I would paint the etching the same color blue as my hull and trim paint, and polish the none etched metal, and I'd see it just fine. It would look very sharp.
Or, I'll buy yours off you.

Would the cost be reasonable if you had the design printed on a standard bumper sticker form and then hand trimmed to the oval shape?
