I offered the lady with the 86' white Mac $600. Haven't heard back from her yet. I'm sure she's either mulling it over or has just dismissed me. So, the 81' yellow might be the only one I get, if that happens.

The yellow one also had a small mushy spot on the top of the bow. Guessing the anchor cracked the fiberglass and the wood has gotten wet and soft. If the bilge hasn't been so wet I would have brought her home yesterday. He's a fellow sailor at pax river and selling his house with slip and motorized lift. So that's why he's getting rid of the boat. He doesn't have a lot of interest. I could make that offer and see what he says.

Sounds like you must have a little side business rolling along down there with all those boats!

A SMALL mushy spot is also not a deal breaker....a SMALL one. Topside mush is another animal...I have great success repairing SMALL spots topside by drilling small holes in the area, and filling with 2 part foam (or "Great Stuff" from Home depot), then re-glassing over the drill holes. Again this works for SMALL spots, not large.

$500 is a good deal for the yellow one. Get it! You can do like I do and get extra gear for the boat you DO end up with, and at $500 there is still enough to sell and get your $ back, plus have more gear.

I live in Rolesvile NC (basically Raleigh NC)....you are close enough if you get the yellow one you could drag it down here to the Rolesville Marina and I could most likely have it back to you fixed within a week (ish) and for not as much $$ as you prob would think

Yes my hobby has kind of turned into a small business...I have enough gear to open a store almost at this point...and I keep buying/getting free more boats....

2 things I always do whenever I go look at boats (or anything) Always bring CASH IN HAND....people are more inclined to take a little less when you wave the green in the air in front of them in the driveway....you have to remember there is also the "dealing with all the idiots on Craigslist Factor" in your favor when you have cash....and second always be prepared to take it home on the spot...

not to "Muddle the thread" lol...so maybe we will start a new one with our adventures with two macs

not all threads have to be questions....I enjoy reading the adventures as well...and we all love the macs

Thanks everybody! I now have one in the driveway. Picking up the other one on Thursday.

I learned today that I do not like hauling a 3k pound load without brakes. Pucker factor was pretty high!
