Mold and flooring question

I decided that replacing the carpet was the best idea for me. I went to a remnant store and bought some wild looking carpet to sexy up the cabin By the way, the Admiral likes it.

Brought carpet at Home Depot and used Instabind to finish to edges. Purchased the instabind and a hot glue gun at tools4flooring dot com. The old rugs were falling apart. Got wall to wall carpet now

Huh. I put the flimsiest teak and holly veneer I ever saw , bought from Kelly Hanson, on a backing of half inch ply and sealed it all with epoxy. Works nice looks great. I'm a part time live aboard so it gets a lot of use. It picks up easy too since I made it on two pieces for the cabin table area.

The only way to prevent mildew is to has a fan inside boat to move the air.
The wood is fine, just have a fan. This can be run from solar panel or direct AC from house if it's next to house.
Move the air and you will be fine. A simple 10 watt solar panel will run a small fan below deck.
Using mildew/mosture containers removels causes acid on fixtures .
I live in SW FL and have a small fan running all the time next to house on AC shore power but have twin 40 watt solar panels that could run 4 fans below and blow out the bugs. No need.
I bomb the boat once a year, kills any creature that makes it there home.
I fear one day there will be a law were cockroaches have more legal right than humans.

Last year, I did a proof of concept 'wood' floor that was 1/4" oak lunan as the base and vinyl wood floor strips on top. We really loved the look of the floor. With our humidity, heat and all the vinyl peeled up. So I bought some good oak flooring to do it right.

I had noticed a smell in the boat the last month of the last season and when I pulled out the lunan/vinyl flooring to replace it this year--I found a large area of black mold.

I've cleaned the boat out but am now concerned with putting wood in again. It looks so much better than the carpet. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you prevent it?
