Always liked the idea of a dodger but to be really useful it would need to be insect proof and easy to drop during daylight heat but can still see problems even at night with trapping the heat although perhaps not as much as the screen on the hatch.

My response from BWY (which was almost immediate and very comprehensive) indicated that you can have the vinyl doors partly open either in the middle or at the outsides. All sides are zipped to the dodger. I know this might have implications for mozzies, etc., but it will allow heat to escape on those hot nights.

I do tend to want the clear vinyl because it will let the light in.

Those who have this dodger, do you have to stoop down very much to get into the cabin? I suffer from a bad back.

The mozzies aren't so bad especially if theres a breeze but the sandflies can kill you, if enough get you or you have a problem, there would probably be more breeze than the hatch screens but they would need to be insect proof for most of our travels but I daresay it can be done.

For the Blue Reef Yachts dodger one thing not mentioned yet, the extra width if this dodger is also great for handy storage of things needed "at hand" like mooring fenders and boat hooks - they all tuck nicely down the inside.
Regardless of what dodger used, the headroom and space addition is great.

We made Velcro and press dud fastened flyscreens which open in the middle for our dodger......don't keep out sandflys but then again what does.
Last year we got hit by a storm anchored in a creek off the tweed river....the storm made for a twilight like scenario.......and the mozzies came out after thinking it was their time.....and came out by the 100000's...I was swimming behind the Mac holding on to out dinghy and the cloud was visible....my wife hit them with fly spray repeatedly and then the sun came out and they were gone....minus enough to make our Mac look speckled...1000's of the blighters and big
