But the dealers attorney"s would care very much if the dealer was wyping a substance on a tire that could cause tire failure and loss of life to a customer. As the injured or dead customers attorney will be looking for the most deep and easily picked pockets he can find, thats why the dealer would care once the car leaves his lot...

Just one example of what can be found from a tire manufacturer:
Goodyear Tire wrote:Goodyear RV tires do not need dressings, appearance products or covers to help protect them. In fact, using products that contain alcohol, petroleum or silicone may cause your Goodyear RV tires to deteriorate and crack. Clean your tires whenever you wash your RV. You can wash your tires with the same products you use to wash your RV – a soft brush and mild soap.
There is a lot more info out there if folks want to go look for it. Or, you can believe the myths.
Oh, and about the semis not using ST tires? They run new tires on the tractors and then recap them for the trailers. The same tires that are designed to take the torque of the drive axle are then used for trailer tires. They actually recap them multiple times and use them in all positions except steering.
They make ST radials, so if you want radials fine. If you want load range D ST tires, they make those too; in bias and radial.
