well, I didn't get on the water today.

It was a lot more work then I wanted to set up the boat, we raised and lowered the mast 3 times. I think I am missing parts on a lot of my boat, I will be posting photos tomorrow in a new thread for advise. The mast raising system is good, though my winches are so worn they slip. I think the for/aft stays are too tight, also we install a roller furler that came with the boat. Anyway, next time out I dump it in the water, and see if the engine works. I don't even know how to hook it up, what gas/oil mix it takes if any, or how to start it (evenrude 50).

Flyboy26m, Thanks! Wow, lots of people for the composting head. Thank you for sharing your thoughts of them, I think we really need to look into this. I read something online that you can couple them with an existing holding tank....do you (or anyone reading this) know if this is true?

Dreamer, WOW, that's crazy, I can't imagine what the next long weekend will be like! We cruised with our Mac through there the day we took it to T.I.M. The next couple of days we took the dinghy through and saw another MAC! I can't remember if it was on Sunday or Monday though. Were you at the south end after the bend? Let me know the next time y'all are there:-)

Kevin....oh nooo! That's so frustrating! I'm sure you'll get it sorted out on here....! If you need any info or pictures of things (close ups and whatnot) let me know, and I'll grab them when I can. We are bringing the boat out west to get stuff installed tomorrow morning, so if you let me know before then, I can do it. If not, I'm sure we'll visit it to see the progress sometime this week....and after a week or so we'll have it back:-)
I take it you didn't have a sea trial when you bought it? We went on three trials before the papers were signed. Everything went up fine (the owner came along too) the first time, the second time we tried the engine again and the third was a charm. Mike at North South wouldn't let any papers signed until it was perfect, so I think we were very lucky with that. I am all about those sea trials now!

Anyhoo, let me know if you need anything!

Also, will post pics of the head issue soon. Bryan explained to me what happened after taking it apart. It's so gross, I don't even want to think about it, LOL!

Don't see how you could couple the two systems. I think you have to choose which system is best for your situation. For me I am happy with Natures Head solution.

Starspun, we were past the bend, pretty much the last mooring spot in a blue 26m, my boys like to take the kayak to the little island that you go around. We may be mooring there again this weekend. Beene and I are planning the annual Madmen of Ontario rendezvous for the weekend of the 24th of August. Hopefully we can get several Macs out together this year.

That's a great idea for a boat that already has a holding tank. A hose/fitting attached in place of the 2 gallon liquid reservoir on the the composting head leading to the holding tank would avoid having to dump anything overboard. That would assume the setup has a really direct and gravity enabled run otherwise a pump would have to be installed as well. Personally I would just chuck the liquid overboard at night but some may prefer the very infrequent handling of a dual system.
