Add Billy to the list so we can put some pressure on him

What is the recommended launch for the out-of-towners?

We will be in the area Thursday afternoon late.

MUCK-About update 6/29/12

 Plan on setting sail from SPSP at 13:00 SHARP or play catch-up with those Mac Horses. Rendezvous at HMI around 5-6 O'clock.

 VHF channel 69 primary, channel 71 back-up.

 If you have a MMSI # I could add it to the roster if you like. http://www.boatus.com/MMSI/
I would like to try mine out and see if I actually can get and receive position reports.

 SPSP had 24hr access with credit card but I was told no overnight sleeping in the lot, and no anchoring in the inlet/ ramp area. You can launch and anchor outside of SPST, maybe Dobbins Island, Deep Creek or my offer at my marina.(see my post 6/25 12:55pm) http://whiterocksmarina.com/
White Rocks Marina
1402 Colony Road
Pasadena, MD 21122
(410) 255-3800

 I will call to make restaurant reservations in Rock Hall in the next few days so put the pressure on those on the fence like, :P Billy, Patric & lorrie. :P

 11 Boats :D , if we can get Billy & Patric, Lorrie :x

:D 8) MUCKA ( MacGregor Upper Chesapeake Kick About ) Update 7/7/12 8)

I hope everyone had a good 4th of July,

The MUCKAbout is less then a week away and here are some updates:

Route review: Friday July 13th Sandy Point State Park (SPSP) to Hart-Miller Island (HMI)17Nm, Saturday Rock Hall (RK) 17Nm, Sunday back to SPSP 12nm. Total 46nm

You don't have to start at SPSP you can join in at any point but the fist rendezvous will be at HMI around 5-6 o'clock. All are welcome not just MacGregors, but you may not hold the title as a MUCKer you may be called a Stucker, keel stuck in the muck ...... All in fun.

9 boats listed so far.

1) We now have reservations Saturday night in Rock Hall at the Harbor Shack restaurant at 6pm http://www.harborshack.net/

2) People still need to make dock reservations at North Point Marina, come on it won't hurt. News Flash I just found out they have 45ft slips so make sure your dock lines are long enough! North Point Marina 410-639-2907 http://www.rockhallmd.com/npoint/

3) Setting sail from SPSP at 13:00 SHARP or play catch-up with those Mac Horses. Rendezvous at HMI around 5-6 O'clock.

4) VHF channel 69 primary, channel 71 back-up.

5) If you have a MMSI # I could add it to the roster. http://www.boatus.com/MMSI/

6) The 1st one to HMI needs to squat on a few campsites. I'm hoping for at least 2 campsites next to each other preferably the last two on the south end of the large beach area with the tower and bathrooms. I think they are spots #6, #5, bottom right side of photo. http://s1100.photobucket.com/albums/g40 ... AG1558.jpg

7) I hope we can get two campsites on HMI (first come first serve) with fire rings and tables, but if not I have a cooking grate, two bags of charcoal and full bottle of lighter fluid. If someone could bring another cooking grate and something to set food on that would be good.
8) You might want water shoes, folding chairs, and bug spray or citronella.

9) Feel free to bring a dish, snack, drink, fruit..... to share if you like.

10) Feel free to invite others that may be interested and let's get them on the roster so I can get a good head count.

11) Check photobucket and read picture descriptions for notes. http://s1100.photobucket.com/albums/g40 ... il%20info/

Route notes:

Friday Sandy Point State Park - Hart-Miller Island 17Nm, Saturday Rock Hall 17Nm Sunday back to SPSP 12nm. Total 46nm

NOAA charts 12273 & 12272 http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/12273.shtml

http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/12272.shtml

Friday: 7/13/12 1 Hart Miller Island / Rock Hall:

Set sail from SPSP 13:00 hrs sharp, that's 1PM, to Hart Miller Island (HMI) 17nm.

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/ ... ypoint.asp

Recommendations: exit the SPSP jetties on a 104' Hdg for 0.5 miles to get away from crab traps and shallow water. Then 040' Hdg for 0.6nm to avoid a 5ft sandbar then head for the red SP Light House 360' 0.3Nm. Next I head for the Baltimore Light House 345' 2.7nm, then I usually stay just west of the Craighill Ship Channel 360' and cross between G15 & G19 buoys and the Brewerton ship channel near G7. I will say, the channel is narrow and those ships get big in a hurry and will run you over before they running aground so look both ways This is the longest leg 10nm which takes you to the channel entrance approaching HMI buoys 1-10 AKA "The HMI Cut". Along the way you will pass the Patapsco River that leads into the Baltimore Inner Harbor and you will see the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... YsFR0wTXPg .

You will be heading for the Craighill channel Range white Light (you'll be heading toward the rear bright white Range light) where the HMI Cut begins and 6kt zone starts. I recommend motoring through the HMI Cut. You will pass Pleasure Island on your right and see the southwest end of HMI. After passing R10 you're 2Nm from camp. If you care to sail the last bit head 006' to G3 before turning east to HMI or you might run aground off of Drum Point. The other options are to sail around the north side of HMI or if you are brave, clean her up (fins, DG, motor tilt up) and go between Pleasure and HMI island but boater beware it can get shallow. The bottom is soft but the crab-pots no so much.

Saturday: Sail time TBD Destination Rock Hall 17Nm, but dinner reservations at Harbor Shack http://www.harborshack.net/ are at 6pm. I'm thinking of departing around 11am depending on weather, out of towners rest, explorers, crew hangovers / state of mind....

Sail 020' 1Nm to R2, 085' 1.6Nm towards G1 to get around the northeast side of HMI. I will probably head 135' for 1.9Nm to get around a fishing trap area before heading south to Rock Hall. Use caution on the east side of the Bay by Swan Point it gets shallow. I will head for the G3 approach buoy (N39'5.595 W076'16.231) to Rock Hall and follow them in. North Point Marina is the first marina on the left as you enter the harbor (410) 639-2907. http://www.rockhallmd.com/npoint/

News Flash I just found out they have 45ft slips make sure your dock lines are long enough!

Sunday: Sail time TBD Destination back to SPSP 12Nm

Back out through the Rock Hall approach channel buoys, at G3 230' 8Nm towards the SPSP Light House then to the SPSP channel, remember its right at the base of the west span of the Bay Bridge.

The latest roster as I know it showing 9 maybe 10 boats. I think you can edit this roster yourself and if you do please date and note the change and send it back to me.

The full MUCKAbout Sailing roster update 7/7/12 was emailed out today we have 9 maybe 10 boats.

The First Annual Macgregor Upper Chesapeake Kick-About (aka - MUCK-About) was a great sucess. 7 boats participated with a total of 24 crewmembers.

First night we were beached at Hart-Miller Island (highly recommended) and had a cookout. After sitting out a 2-hour rain squall Saturday morning we all sailed and motor-sailed across the Chesapeake to Rock Hall, MD where spent the night at North Point Marina (highly recommended) to include a big group dinner at the Harbor Shack (highly recommended). Sunday morning we had a very spirited Macgregor "race" back across the bay from Rock Hall to the Baltimore Light House.

Can't wait for MUCK-About 2013.

Photos: MUCK About Photo Album -- Hopefully more pictures to come as others upload their shots

Videos: Friday the 13th at Hart-Miller Island & Saturday Journey to Rock Hall, MD -- Still waiting on other videos as well

"WELL DONE" to our MUCK Meister Tony! Thanks for setting all of this up.

Cheers,
Jim

Excellent Videos and Pics guys I wish I could have been there. Please tell me Pirate Sail is not in the middle of September so I may be able to make it. That way you can shoot a video of an actual race not just C130 practically solo sailing :D :P :D. My boats has had to take a bit of financial neglect this year due to a freak-en tree but I will dig in the cushions of the couch and see if I can gather enough coinage to make it to North Carolina again this year. If it gets cold I will have to sleep in someone else's boat that has a heater. My heater is broke and cant spend money on luxury items right now to fix it :? .

Unfortunately North Point Marina was not pet friendly. :( The lady working there (Lori) was very nice, the accommodations and hospitality was very good and we did have a very good time but you are not alone in your concern. :D I just called Lori and left a message to see if she could bend the rules a little and or if she knew if one of the neighboring marinas, (within waking distance) would accommodate pets. I haven't heard back from her yet. I also just called The Sailing Emporium Marina they do have a pet friendly policy the only thing is the restaurant is not within waking distance. The good news there is a tram that runs for $1 and the grocery store provides free transportation. I was thinking of having a pitch-in big barbeque back at the marina / pool area if the majority is interested, insted of going to the restaurant. The rate at the Emporium is $2.00/Ft + $8 elct. I am strongly considering changing marinas, I'll keep you posted.

:?: I would like to get a feel for how many might be interested. Right now I am looking at Friday July 12th, 2013.

I support going to a pet friendly marina - but if we do, and we go out to dinner, someone will need to stay behind and mind the furry kids. A barbeque at the marina would solve this.
All said, pets or not is not a deal breaker on participating again.
