Its all good

I went below, like I often do, when I was in very light winds, heeled 10deg or less with other sailboats in sight, all going around the same speed, that being snail speed with that wind.

Auto does an excellent job under those conditions

You can see 360 from below

So light wind
No waves
And about 60 min travel time at current speed to any other sailboats or land.

In other words
No worries

That is
Until that all changed quite suddenly

When it started getting dark and raining very hard
I should have gone up and immediately taken everything down
But I underestimated the situation

I have been sailing for decades
It was bound to happen sooner or later

Just glad it was not a lot worse

The pictures from the town that was hit with a tornado that same time a few miles away show massive devastation

I was very lucky to say the least

wow......lucky dog ideed. and here i been worried about lightning !! IM bettin there is less chance of a strike when the mast is horizontal :| im also glad your ok.
