Sheilagene 2 hits the water:

Very nice grafics and the tandem trailer low profile,almost ready to race except,needs a 110hp or greater hanging off the stearn to get close to the cheaker flag and win.
Grafic Language means a lot and one has to prove the point.

Thank you... Luckily before I started I did not even try to estimate the time it would have taken, as I might have gotten cold feet. I did not track my labor with any precision, but it took about 350 man hours to sand, clean, mask, and paint the boat. You might have never thought about it, but since there are 4 colors on the boat, that actually equates to masking the entire boat 4 times. Also I color sanded all the layers to try and get perfect transition lines before putting two coats of clear on top. I put a total of 6 gallons of Glasurit polyurethane on the boat making this easily the largest single paint job I have ever done. Afterwards I spent 125 man hours cleaning sealant off and polishing all the old riggings and stanchions etc., before reassembling them onto the boat.

I am very proud of the finished product and the Admiral is extremely excited. We have gotten some fantastic comments on the water as well as driving down the road. Life is good.

Your Boat Came Out Fantastic!!! Albeit.. You took the time ( in or about 500 Man Hours!!) That was in part much of my concern .. but again You Proved Me Wrong!! I have seen SOoooooooooo many messes when people tried to do what you have ACCOMPLISHED!! It DOES.... take a LOT of Time and No minimal amount of Skill and Knowledge.. and from what I have seen in the past 30+ years.. most lack those!! I bought a Nice 19' Sea Ray years ago that had been ( owner) painted and that is why I was able to buy it so cheaply.. Among other issues it Blushed...

Unfortunately, I lack the creativity in design, the skill in painting, the patience for hard work, and the money to pay what it would cost to have someone else do this, so I fear I'm stuck with the stock paint job for life. Alas.

No Doubt Mastreb... This would be very expensive $$$$$$ to Have Done by others.. Even at just 100 man hours..@ $50 an hour and the materials $$$, this would be no less than about $6000 to have done. More realistically it would be close to double that figure..
That Said.... Hundreds maybe thousands of Modifications have been done by members of this board ... saving and Untold amount of money.. Mods that might well have been?? Totally beyond the reach $$$ of most of us , had we not invested the personal time and energy ../ Sweat Equity...
Having The PLACE... The TIME.. The TOOLS $$$ and The Knowledge.. That said .. My First attempt at many things have been IMHO disastrous but .. in time.... I got better and better..

How many other Macgregors also spend there dry time in a hangar? Mine does, any others? It seems like we have a few pilots on this forum.

I Am Jealous !!! I would need to look at a map ? But I might have been?? The Electrical Foreman for that ( your) subdivision..IF?? It was built in the early to mid 70's..

Thanks for the complements. Along with painting the boat I made dozens of other modifications, I'm backed up on making posts to the MOD section, since I like to add a little descriptive write-up and it seems I'm always missing the optimum picture. Anyway, I have not done anywork on the boat since early mid and I only have a few small mods planned this winter (looks like I need to get started soon).

I'm very furtunate to have a great facility to work on the boat at my house. I'm a very slow builder, so if I had to do any of the thing I've "tried" on my boat in a commercial setting I would quickly be out of business. I like building things and this site, has been a great insperation for me to try things, I just want to pass on my ideas so it helps others with their ideas.
I also like to share how I did it...

Well... here is a little history on the Independence Airpark:

The Independence Airpark is immediately adjacent to the Independence State Airport in Oregon. The airpark received an ingress and egress permit from Oregon Aeronautics Division and FAA on June 14, 1974. The permit was granted to the Airpark developers, James E. Preuit and Thomas W. Combest who developed the streets and subdivided the lots for private purchase. Since then the airpark has expanded to the north and the south and now has about 200 homes.
