What about something like paypal? Since I'm an eBay addict I'm pretty familiar with it but never used it To buy cars or boats or sell them either.

I can't tell you how many counterfeit 100's I've had with black pen marks all over them - - - those pens are not foolproof - - -and casinos are where most counterfeits are passed - - - have you ever seen a craps dealer or BJ dealer check a bill??? It is just put down the slot and they find out it is counterfeit later. So sit down with a counterfeit Hundy, make a few $10 bets and leave with 80%+.

PS BTW - - - A LOT of the remaining old hundred dollar bills without the watermark are counterfeit - - - NEVER EVER take an old hundred from a casino cashier; ask them to replace it before you take possession; watch them count out your money and be sure there are no old bills there for you to eat - - - they are not very tasty - - - and casinos are where they are passed.

Back when I had my SJ21 for sale, I got several "offers". The best one was from someone in TX, who was going to buy the boat for his son in NY. I was suppose to get a check from a "business associate" from CA who owed him money from a business deal. I told him I'd be happy TO TAKE HIS CASH AFTER he looked at the boat.
I also got an email from someone in the UK wanting to buy the boat---I guess it's cheaper to pay thousands of pounds to ship a $2,000 boat there than to just buy one THERE.
I ended up selling it to a guy from western Canada who was looking for well-kept boat that he could use for racing. I figured he was legit as he'd posted a large number of messeges on the San Juan website, and he was well known in the SJ community.
Unfortunately, I did get taken by American Boat Listing who "was going to list my boat in a number of boat sales magazines and listings" for only $xxx.
I never saw my boat listed or get any calls from them (except by ABL to re-up my listing).

I've placed ads on this site, sailingtexas.com and sailboatlistings.com to sell my Mac26X. So far, this is the only scam email I've received. All other replies have been legitimate. Even had a couple look the boat over after seeing it on sailboatlistings.com. The scam artist responded to my ad on sailingtexas.com.

I have nothing bad to say about any of those sites. This kind of money fraud is one of the easiest to commit and one of the hardest for law enforcement to crack...

American Boat Listing was one of the bunch , I was talking about . They promise you the world untill they get that fee up front.
I figured if they were for real , they would wait on thier money till after the sale .

A few got ugly , hanging up on me , when I told them I would pay the fee after the sale.

Paypal - within it's dollar amounts - is pretty secure.
