What now?? Anyone have an opinion on what is better: The one with the swivel or the one that is a permanent angle??
Which way to go??
Get the one with the swivel so you can trim the headsail from different places in the cockpit. I bought them two years ago at the Annapolis boat show and they are a great additionThe one with the swivel or the one that is a permanent angle??
Ah ha, that's it. In my head I had the genoa cars replaced by this unit, instead of supplementing them. Doh!The sheets go through the Genoa cars first which can still be adjusted as needed.

Yup I did see them on your boat, John. (That’s partly why I want a set myself). But I've seen a lot of nice stuff on your boat that I want!Brian
If u had been paying attn. u would have noticed their are 6 of these on my boat

They need to be easily movable for sail tuning, and for easy boarding. The forces experienced by this unit from the sheets at the rails would be less than with the factory sheave configuration (by about half, actually, not considering shear, and angle), so it needn’t be any stronger than it.
I believe I’ve seen these with a sprung pin (like the factory unit) that facilitates rapid position changes, but it looks tight in there for space, and it would make for a more vertical profile.
Part of the reason I have not been more aggressive in buying is because I like to see exactly what it is first. I might have ended up disappointed had I purchased and ended up with these? Or not. Please someone tell me I am all wet about this. Bill? Anyone? Maybe, in practice, it's not necessary to reposition it much, so this is a good compromise?
Thanks for posting the pictures taime1. Worth 1000 words.

. I like it!
As I recall, the factory-supplied, upright spring mounted genoa cars are absent on your boat.(?)seahouse wrote:Yup I did see them on your boat, John. (That’s partly why I want a set myself). But I've seen a lot of nice stuff on your boat that I want!Brian

Yep She is a pretty little thing ain't sheBOAT wrote:Hold on there! You can't go by Captain Highlander's setup! His boat is on steroids! Have you seen that ship?? It's not a sailboat - it's a schooner!!
The Flying Dutchman could not catch that skipper in a gale!
You can't go by his rig - he is in a different class altogether.
