I couldn't stand the screeching when I slid the hatch open or closed! I used plastic strips which went under the hatch and up the inside, to help centralise the hatch. It worked a treat, and made the whole thing smooth and silent. Held in place by liberal application of Ceresit FT101.

Just finished the velcro mod on our M. Had to make a double headed 3/8 socket to fit the long ss bolts that hold on the side strips. Welded 2 together. And repainted the plastic hole covers.
Overall, the slide is tighter however don't hear that teeth grinding, scratching noise any longer. This is a good feeling.

Used 20mm peel back sticky soft side velco. Needed approx 1 and a bit metres for each side under hatch ends. While hatch was off, we used chlorine to clean the mould on the underside.

Also did a gel coat repair on cabin top where it was worn.

And this is not like me... no photos !!

Thankyou Mac forum.

Although the 'screeching' is sometimes the side rails, very often it is the front edge of the hatch cover rubbing against the deck. Adding the Velcro will also relieve this, since it raises the hatch enough to prevent it.
