Our tow vehicle a 3 turbo diesel hilux (4x4) although overloaded has never had a problem on our ramps which in many cases especially in the Northern waters with high tides (high slick) and steep/rough ramps covered with sand and gunk.
Would not want to try getting the boat out without 4x4 on some of them or in our case without low range as it would just burn the clutch (terrible gear ratio).
Really should get a better (read bigger) tow vehicle but it is intended that the boat will be sold after next years trip and am not sure what we will be using for our winter trips after that but it certainly won't be a 2wd.
