Try using a slinky or a Sparky Fish tape this is the cable that is or was used for controls in small aircraft. Also light fishing line and a think metal washer and a very strong magnet. Thin very Thin cloth between magnet and gel coat and draw the washer across dragging string with it. I also have and use Greenlee Brand Fiberglass "fish rods" but an old fishing pole would work excellently as well.
