Salirite at "www.sailrite.com" is showing a main reefing system, designed by CDI (part no.102622) that could fit the Mac. The list price is $1299.00.
Looks OK, would be worth to wait for some user comments to see if it works.

Saw that but was wondering if reefing to the boom would have benefits over reefing to the mast?

The mast reefing systems that works without messing up the sail shape is the one that rolls up inside in the mast. That would make the mast at least twice as big in diameter and that would be too top heavey for a Mac's narrow beam.

Also, a proper boom roller reefing system allows you to keep a full, or partially battened sail to help maintain better sail shape, as well as keeping your weight aloft down. Poor sail shape is the bane of in-mast reefing. I've used it and don't like it.

Seems like with boom furling you can still drop the sail if the furling jams up.

With mast furling this may be a little more problematic.

I think I prefer slab reefing.

I may be wrong but I thought that was the term used for traditional reefing with reefing points/grommets on the sail.

If I am wrong on that then that is what I get for trying to show off by using nautical terms when I don't really know what they mean... :D

I guess we have slab reefing but I usually just bunch up the sail when reefing, the term sounds like one used with a lazy jack system that you fold the sail in slabs. I dont know my nautical terms yet but I am learning.
