I wonder if there is a Excell "calculator" around that would better answer your question. The calculator would input all the various current sources (ie, outboard alternator, solar ect) vs. all the various current loads vs. time used vs. "duty cycle" of use vs. battery capacity. The match of input current to output current is often used because its a closer match. Current is often input at a higher voltage and current output is at a lower voltage so there is less of a match of input power to output power.

I would also think a solar panel mounted inside the boat would not be a good use of space or money.. One other note about solar panels is that not all panels of a certain wattage are the same size. The cheap ones from for example harbor Freight are less efficient.
