Oily residue - WD40 might be worth a try...

Mineral spirits is my favorite for removing tar-like residue. Takes asphalt out of vehicle carpeting like it was never there.

Success!!!! We decided to go with the Spray Nine and follow up with soap and water. The Spray Nine really loosened the deposits and some dish washing liquid, water and a scrubbing brush got rid of what was left.
I also removed the rudders to repair some damage to the lower forward ends. Of course, I left the rudders down when taking the boat out of the water.............duh! :cry: The previous owner seems to have done the same at some point as they were already repaired. Damage is minmal but it doesn't look so nice. It was a great day for working outdoors at a balmy 16 degrees celcius, here in the Great White North.
By tomorrow evening, we will have the boat ready to go into storage for the winter.
