The biggest advantage I find by moving the traveler instead of sheeting out in a puff, is I find it easier to find that "SPOT" I had the main in before the puff. ie... it is easier for me to just return the traveler to center than fiddle with the main sheets to bring the main back to where it was.

I personally think the transom design on the
is the biggest difference in perfomance enhancement and the rotating mast doesnt do diddly. The traveller is also a big performance enhancer hard to the wind Im sure
I have no evidence for this first perfectly needlessly inflammatory statement other than to create another post padding thread.

Just a hair under four boat bucks got me a Quantum Fusion X main with high-end battens, two full bats at the top with all hardware, loose foot, two reefs, cunningham, slugs, jacklines, Dutchman flaking/reefing system and a 105 Jib (also Fusion X) with sunbrella cover, & luff pad for roller reefing. These were custom made. Sales rep came out to my boat to measure and personally delivered the sails to fit them. I got a 20% discount to secure this price. The time to buy is the late fall or early winter, which is when lofts will offer some deals.
Out of curiousity... how will you transport a Mac
from SoCal to Australia?

The rotating mast does plenty. There isn't a Mac
on San Francisco Bay that can keep up with me, except maybe Frank C, but that's just because he's a better sailor than I.

Re transport : I am following Phillips method as outlined here :

Basically invovles boat and trailer being packed into a 40ft container with the axle and fenders removed and a 28 to 60 day trip depending on route. Oh and plenty of people with their hand out.........
I am quite interested in the Contender MaXX sailcloth that would make it easier to make my own (~9 crosscut panels rather than a gazillion radial....)

Unless you have a good crew on board, reefing is alot easier.
