Mallard,

The 26X is not the best sailboat made, it is not even really close......BUT

The 26X is the best trailerable sailboat that I know of. It also is the best shallow water sailboat as well as being of reasonable quality and low maintenance.... However

For me at least, it is first a sailboat, and I can not justify the cost in, weight and complexity of such a single engine. When the power is useless 90 percent of the time.

I believe that the Tohatsu is a damn fine engine. I have tried it all, I run it most of the time at low RPM in fact, I have not run it at high very much just now and then to clean it out.
