Not for the M. Call them and ask them about that, they won't sell you one if they think you are going to attach the mainsheet to it. At least that's what they told me...

Just got mine. I was under the impression that there would be some wrap-aroudn ring to attach it to the steel pededstal post but here are just four holes for through-bolts. Is this thing supposed to just be attached to the plastic on the back of the ped? I would think tis is way too little structural strength for any sort of handhold. Any thoughts?

PS. No install instuctions came.

Mine is just mounted to the front of the Fiberglass pedestal, not the Stainless pipe...

You can kinda see the guard here, at the forward edge:

Does any one make a guard that will attach to the mounting bolts where the new pedestal joins the cockpit deck?Might be a better attachment point. It could also be bolted to the new pedestal 2/3 the way up the pedestal as well for more rigidity.

I have the pedestal guard from BWY on my 99X. It was installed by BWY when they originally sold the boat. It is attached with a backing plate behind the plastic and has substantial strength as mounted.

We have had a couple of hard slams from the boom snapping across when we first started learning how to move with air power and a bunch of hard grabs from those bumpy days on Puget Sound.

It seems to be holding up great.

In looking at the photo album that Todd (BWY) showed us we notice that all of the BWY staff’s X’s all had one on.

I would most certainly put one on again if we got another Mac.
