Scott, your wife sounds exactly like mine..lol We got married in St Thomas so we keep saying we are going to go back there one day and rent a bareboat.
If I could find a nice used Mac near Greece, I'd buy one and use it a couple weeks a year in the Med and then leave it on the trailer in an empty lot for the off season. I'll bet it would cost $4-5K dollars to rent a 26 ft boat for 2 weeks in high season...so, after 4-5 summers, it would be paid for basically.

No Pomm Frit! Just Ball-Dee! Wife’s Italian, always has a nice tan!
Some Italian Sailors came down on the subway in August…They wanted to help get the dinghy pumped up….They were sooooo helpful!
The gentleman bought two Mac’s at wholesale price, which gave him dealer status. The shipping for a container of Mac’s is no doubt less than the $ 5 Grand one-way delivery of the Harbor 40. The Sharps offer “Real Marine Head Installations” and many have plumed in marine heads on this board. I don’t believe the article implied living on the Mac, only short cruise pleasure and trailerable to many key places the big boater cannot go.

I also like the idea of cruising by land and sea.
Four of Five Crew:
Showering everyday with a cruisers limited water supply could not cover the aroma coming from the bilge…
”Clean as a Safeway Chicken?”…I think not!

Ah...yes BUT....we have one of these babies on the list:
Watermaker
and then we already have this:
Bilge Sump
Now if I can just remember how to shorten a link....I would have it all figured out!

The macgregor price in europe is highter than in US.
Its wery difficolt to buy a 6- 7 yrs old 26x for less than 25-30000 €., if in good shape.
If u buy it in Europe, you must pay for resting it in winter and all the periodical cecks ( engine, antifouling , etc).
So if you are lookin for a Macgregor in the Mediterranean see in August for 2 weeks, i think is cheaper renting it .
( Im italian, and , during summer, i find the same smell in the subway in Rome , in Paris, in London, and In New York too....all Italians without takin their shower????)

The whole basis of my desire for a Mac in Europe is that I have access to a property where I could leave the boat on its trailer. I would winterize the motor, cover up as much as possible and leave it sit there...for free. It would just need a good cleaning the next time I arrive.
But yes, I forgot that they cost about $10,000 more in Europe, still is a good deal if I figure I may spend more time there AW (after work).
Italy would be a good place to look for Mac's because I could put a car and trailer on a ferry boat from Brindisi.....so, let me know if you ever want to sell yours or you come across one for sale!

The Statement does take some demands off your purchase of body armor. Right?
Probably describes the quality of the design
