Tim, Sue and I are going to two Harbors this Thursday, August 3rd for 5 days if you or anyone else can make it. On Sunday we will head down to Avalon to see if we can get a spot. I call ahead and they will let you know how many spots are available.

Im going to give up on Mexico this time around. The wife and I are talking about the Little Harbor trip instead. Ill launch in Oceanside Thursday evening and head out to Little Harbor Friday early. Spend the weekend and head back on Sunday. I may drop her off and head up to Santa Barbara. I have the week so I may as well spend it on the boat.

Rich,
just had a good conversation with the Cat-42 owner about his scheduled trip to Hawaii. he leaves Tuesday.
one of the mates going with him has done the trip 6 times.
that'll make it real comforting for the owner.
says he got the rig for $110K and will put in no more than $10K extra.
says that the partcular vessel is built for the blue water. interesting...
starting to get me thinking about "blue water" in my future.
keep us all posted on your projects and plans.

ya...his Cat 42 is a Great Boat...some/many will debate the Blue Water design of a 1990 Cat 42 but they sail back/forth to Hawaii all the time. I actually looked at that boat about 4 months before I bought mine. It is a luxury condo inside...that's for sure. So he figures he will be $120 into the boat...he will actually need to add 10-15%...but no need to tall him that yet...he will find out as EVERY boat owner does.
I will be about $70-80K into my Pearson 365 when I'm "done" and ready to cast off...but the good thing is that I will have all new equipment that I installed, wired and know like the back of my hand. But man...it does sound nice to buy a 90% ready to go boat and just GO....now back to priming my wood work for painting.....will it ever end?
