Mast Rake

You might want to look at the
Windarra page for a practical method of measuring rake using a 3' level. I don't know how to place a URL in this text since I'm new to this Mac. The page is still up I just looked at it.

Actually my furler doesn't have a turnbuckle hidden. The swaged end of the forestay connects directly to the fore chain plate.
So if I were to go get the forestay reswaged, how many inches would I need to have removed to roughly get to a 1 degree rake? I like the idea of adding in a forestay turnbuckle while I am at it and I realized I would need go the length of the turnbuckle shorter as well but removing the issue of the turnbuckle for the moment, if I just wanted to shorten the forestay to go to 1 degree rake, how many inches of forestay would that be roughly?

:macx: The rake should be set at the dock with boat in water, as rake at water line is what's required. Setting rake on the dry will not compensate for variations in engine weights and fixed equipment in cabin like water tanks ect, using a weight an the main halyard three inches rake measured at the boom atatchment point is considered the average starting point good luck.
