Starting up: Which way to look first?

This is a great book . I bought a little fractional boat (Ghost 13) and tried to apply what was in the book . I only went out in light winds to begin with and learned by doing it . I wish there would have been someone to show me some things but no one around to do that . I plugged along and learned from doing . I then bought my V-24 and am still learning . This book is very informational and good .

I thought it was, "an hour to learn and lifetime to master..........." Ah, same idea.......

I still can't get the boat in or out of the water and secured in ten minutes.......but then, I have it in a slip so I don't practice that often.....

I think you are right ...I use the term paraphrase to mean what I say and what the author originally said are in the same zip code...or maybe the same planet..

you need a bit more than an hour to get the basics down, but the concept is correct. Best part is you can have fun the whole way.

Wear those PFDs always...

I knew nothing about sailing when I bought my X, The only boat I had owned was a canoe. I didn't know how to rig it or even launch or dock. I took a basic sailing course at a local sailing club and basic navigation at the Power & Sail Squadren club ( recommend both) I also learned a lot from the posts on this board.
