Moe, you are a smart man. It is scary how people have gotten hooked by mindless crap on TV. I am just looking for some options to make viewing something I do on my terms. It is sad to think that there are people who spend their whole lives in front of a tube. That is what I was getting at with the Coma image above. The entertainment industry has IVs in people's arms sucking money.

The wife and I are happy that we accidently discovered evening sailing and with a nice GPS, will explore night sailing next year. I figure I have around 20 more trips around the Sun and my intent is to spend as much as possible sailing. I just hope I have the opportunity to cross paths with friends on this board.

Of course Mark Prouty is another subject.... he needs to start watching FOX news to get a correct perspective on reality. :D

I can't believe how funny this site can be. Sometimes I laugh so hard I cry.

Ditto.

Speaking of which -- Randy, this logic doesn't apply to talk radio does it? Just making sure I'm in the clear....

Marginally better as only noise pollution rather than noise and visual pollution imho....

but still pollution nonetheless...not sure which is worse, the right side which is angry crap, or the left which is poorly reasoned whining...

And again, there is no room for an intelligent middle - doesnt sell ads I guess....

sigh....time to go sailing on the Cape for the last time this year...

Scenes to avoid:

After dying you are met at the pearly gates by an man glowing of light holding a book.
He greets you, opens the book, adjusts his glasses and speaks....

"Hmmm, Says here you spent 62.5 years on planet, and spent 116 days on board a small sailboat with your family. Hey that sounds nice."
Then his voice changes to a lower tone.
"Oh...my... what's this... Sir, it also says here you that you spent 18.29 years watching television."
He continues.
"Tsk tsk... Let me get this straight. You had a sailboat, and still chose to spend over 18,000 hours watching the tube? What were you thinking?"

On hearing this phrase you start thinking that the glowing gentleman with the book could be Dr. Phil rather than saint Peter.

"Ahem... Uh, excuse me sir, but would I in the downstairs place or the upstairs place?"

Hmmm.... So would a centrist present poorly reasoned angry crap?

I suppose people agreed on most things, that part of life would be pretty boring. Can you imagine Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken doing a buddy show show? Sheesh.

:?

I always appreciate principaled people regardless of their ideology. Being engaged in the world and having core beliefs is a good character trait no matter what your views -- IMHO. I have friends all over the political spectrum, and find the people with (any sort of) opinions are the most thoughtful.... or maybe they just watch less t.v.?

To get this thread back to Digital Recording, I would like to present a digital recording of my future Mac Sailor grandson. The top scan is with eyes closed, the bottom one is with the eyes open.

When we went to Dallas last weekend to see my daughter, she showed me the first piece of clothing she bought for the baby, and it has a sailboat on it. Life does not get any better than this.
