My boat had an obnoxious squeak. As mentioned by several others it turned out to be the motor connecting rod rubbing on the fiber glass hole it passed through. Some lubricant fixed that.
Please check the turnbuckles on your furler (assume you have one since you bought it "loaded" ASAP.
My boat also came without cotter pins on the furler turnbuckle. I agree, check them ASAP if you haven't.

It is amazing that we all seem to have the same problem with the steering rod rubbing. You would think that Macgregor would have fixed this problem by now. Mine is an 04.

Stiff steering

Post by Randy McCotter »

:macx: ...... I recently bought a 2002 26X. My steering is VERY stiff. After reading all the post i could, I ordered a Uniflex cable to replace my stock one. The posts mainly recommend Teleflex but my dealer says Uniflex. Has anyone had to do this? What are your thoughts?

Ditto what parrothead said.

Mine had friction between the steering linkage and where it passed through the fiberglass. Silicon spray is my favorite tool with duct tape a close second.
