I can only speak in terms of my M. I have on occasion healed beyond 30°. However I find there is no real speed benefit to sail at that angle of heel. The boat sails faster with less sail between 5-20° and tracks significantly better.

Absolutely true.

I believe, the only reason to intentionally heel at great angles, is the fun, and it is fun. Yes, everything in the cabin goes flying, but it’s fun. Sailing is a Zen thing. With us it’s the journey, not the destination that matters.

I tell power boater friends that I can give them more thrills at 3MPH than they can get at 50.
