I don't remember if it looks like yours.
This Spring I'm going to replace the cable and probably remove the "brake" as it doesn't seem worth it. It's kind of weak and I'm afraid it might cause a problem.

I made a steering lock years ago and it has worked very well. It consists of break band around the hub of the steering wheel. The band can be tightened by means of a screw knob.
