Our Dowsar Mac recommended tarp has 6 Ontario winters and is going to be good for a couple more. It has a number of pin-hole type holes, but is still doing itβs job well. Fit is perfect for a Mac 26. We experience some windy conditions. We drop the life-lines,
Install two gallon flower pots over the stanchions to protect the tarp, toss 2-3 dock lines over the mast and secure on opposite side. Now the tarp life-extender trick!
Install light rope thru the tarp loops on each side , leaving 2-3β of slack. Lay the tarp over the mast and even it up on the sides. Take another 30β of rope (on each side) and loop it through the tarp line and down around the frame and back up. Continue the length of the tarp. Once both sides are woven in, you can easily snug up the frame ropes to secure

Now toss additional ropes over the tarp to prevent any flapping. In our case we acquired (out-of-date ) firehouses to use. Works so well. Not as complicated as it may seem at first. And we can still get aboard to do some winter dreaming. A couple of line tightenings and all is secure.
