Been having such a good time looking for cool birds down here in Texas that I completely forgot about checking in. We've been on the road for over a month now. We've driven more than 4000 miles, and nearly half of that has been in Texas. Big place. Birding has been great. We saw condors in California, whooping cranes, a rare warbler (golden cheeked warbler), and the endangered red cockaded woodpecker here in Texas, along with a whole lot of other birds. Incredible variety. We've seen more than 260 species so far. In two days we'll go on a 9 mile hike into the Chisos Mountain of Big Bend NP, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Colima Warbler. Very rare bird, only a few hundred nesting pairs in the US. When I'm not so tired, I'll try posting a few pics.

I was sailing in the Gulf of Mexico Saturday and had this little critter with me for about 20 minutes. I was close to five miles offshore when it landed. I'm guessing I was a convenient spot to rest. Anyone know what it is?

You mean Alfred Hitchcock swapped in frames to subliminally just make us think there was a band?

That is an β€œL.Y.J.” As some of the local Bird vet specialists here would call it. Little Yellow Jobber https://postimg.cc/NLFwm2K0

It sure look like one but they are not supposed to live anywhere near here. I wonder if they have any east coast relatives. πŸ€”

The camouflage of this white-crowned sparrow in the grass is just remarkable.

Where's Waldo?

He's a little more obvious in the feeder.

I just won my own bounty for photographing a new species. Unfortunately it came with the destruction of a robin, but such is the circle of life.

Now, to identify.
