Regarding the hard pull to starboard: Assuming you are not running at speed under power with either the rudders or centerboard down, I'd take a look at the trim tab on your engine. Many outboards hide a bolt under the trim tab that has to be removed to service the water pump. If the tab was not put back in the right position it could easily cause the problem you are describing.
