They were original equipment at the time. I have never had a problem with them. But I also seldom use them.

Like others, I am surprised to learn the latest series were equipped with plastic winches. Did that carry over to the Tattoo line?

I replaced my marelon winches with the Anderson 10's and the holes fit perfectly. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I used the winches a lot with my 150 Genoa when trying to sheet in tight heading up wind. Now that I have a 105 jib, I only really need them when trying to flatten out the sail when trying to beat as high as I can.
My Marelons froze, so I had to replace them. Plus the Anderson winches are really nice to look at. I use the starboard winch every time I go out to hoist the main halyard tight.

I allready ordered anderson. I ask in the shop if the lewmar "ocen" for the same price (listed above) is made of plastic. So the looked for one and told me yes, the inside is made of plastic, the part where the scews go through. So my descision was made for the anderson...

Should be a circlip (Sicherungsring?) around the splined (verzahnt?) input socket. Carefully peel that off like an onion, and the drum should lift off. Don't scratch your new winches up doing that, though.

This guy pulls a snap ring in the video. Maybe this will help. If your snap ring has holes near the gap, you can use snap ring pliers on it - which may make it easier. You'll need the external type which expand the ring when you squeeze the pliers. You can get it, just walk away if you get frustrated, and YouTube your way through it. I can't see the details on your winch to judge what your problem is. If you don't get it in about 10-15 minutes, post a good picture of the top of your winch. Someone will be able to tell you how to get it done.

Beat me to it. Here's a page on Spirolox retaining rings, including a video on removing and installing. It looks like those drums use that style ring. I usually have better luck with a very small screwdriver, but whatever works without scratching nice new drums is fine.
