Well, I suppose if you use your phone in the head instead of TP your going to need screen wipe, right? (hey, that's disgusting - who suggested that in the first place?)

We keep a log every time we are on the boat. Have been doing so since before it was in our possession. We take turns at the end of the day each writing a page or so. Our perspectives are different and we write about different things that are important to us. It's important to capture the GPS position, Time, events and feel of the trip for later. Pictures and video don't always do that so well unless you want to compose every shot. I go back to the log for reference when editing video later so the finished product reflects the feel of the trip. Also, it aids my memory, it may be a year before I get back to edit, sometimes several. When I need a sailing fix in the middle of winter I need only crack open the log and read. It takes me right back to the moment I wrote the words. I also log things that break and ideas for improving the boat then log the repairs and mods.

I made my own log book using a small 3 ring binder (was an appointment book from before PDA's). I print the pages on card stock so they hold up and write with a pencil so it can get wet and be legible. It holds about 10 years of logging along with our passports and documents. When it's full I transfer the older trips to another note book that is kept at home. It's our complete sailing history which includes when we went to look at a Mac 26X the first time to our honeymoon to the first trip with our grandchildren.
