Good to hear! They will be an hour or so from my in-laws, so next time I'm down there, I'll have to see if I can get a tour. My FIL would love that, too. 8)

Interesting tidbit buried in the comments:
Tattoo Yachts: "We would not resume production of the prior 26, but after the Tattoo 22 is in full production we will very likely offer a new Tattoo 26 along the same lines. There is definitely a place for both sizes in the trailerable sailboat market!"

Great. Any Mac owners looking to move up gets to move down 2ft. Makes no sense to me but then I probably don't make any sense....
FYI tow specs on 1500 SUV's is 8,300lbs, 1500 pickups 10k lbs +. I'm just saying.

Like I said I don't make any sense. It's a Mac 22' so we get to move down 4'.

Dr. Freud, can you step in here, please? This fellow has difficulty with determining inches....

Isn't it more a matter of being obsessed with size? 8)

Does anyone here have news on Tatoo Yachts? There is not much information online...

“It’s not the size of the boat it’s what you do with it.”

Great news to hear that they will be in production again soon. I like the idea of the 22’ should be a lot easier for single handed trips.

My question is will Billy put a 140hp on the 22’?

Why a 22foter shall be easier in single handing? Does not look logical for me.

The 26 looks perfect for me. Don't know why people want to get smaller. My :macm: is already small enough... :D

I agree with Kurtz.

I sail my Tattoo 26 :tat26: single handed 99% of the time. I actually get frustrated if I have more than one other person aboard. My family can't sail, and are not interested in learning, so they are just in the way!

Sorry to be negative, but if Tattoo yachts are not back by now, they are never coming back.

I talked to a parts manufacturer at Strictly Sail in Chicago one year and he said that Roger MacGregor was the best in the business in paying his bills. Unfortunately his daughter Laura was not like that. I had over $1,000 in my deposit account. After Tattoo stopped making boats, I called them many times but they never answered their phone (caller ID I assume). I would leave a message every time, but they never got back to me. I repeatedly emailed with no response. I had stopped at their factory in Florida previously and saw the molds for the Tattoo. But both her and her husband were obviously factually challenged. They did buy me lunch.

That’s a shame, Bill. The really sad thing is that there’s still a good market for such a boat… you can tell, because the older ones still draw a good price.

Bill, how long ago was that encounter?

Are the molds still intact? Rumor has it that the 26M molds were shot.

Got a lunch? Would love to hear that conversation.
