I am interested in installing a new toilet and macerator system to replace the one I have which has started to become problematic and with limited usefulness. I am, however, since I boat near marinas with traditional pump out stations, interested in replacing with a standard marine toilet. The brand I currently have has gone out of business, so I am interested in getting a new one from an established company. I am wondering if anyone on the board has any recommendations in this regard.

My last boat had the basic Jabsco marine head with manual hand pump and flip-flop water selector valve (brings in flush water, or allows you to pump the bowl down). Cheap and cheerful, and always worked.

Yeah Herschel, the Jabsco heads are probably the most common one to find in a sailboat (our size and up, old or new) around here. I think they are the old reliable standby product; when I think marine head it is the Jabsco head that I picture first. The ones in the higher-end boats are electric.

my sannipottie has an electric flush it has a twoonie coin slot box attached to it but I have never tried it to see if it works as I always use the optional free push pump flush

The only issue I've had with the Jabsco, if you want to even call it an issue, is that you have to use silicone grease on the plunger every so many seasons. The stuff you can pour in the head to lube it (pumping it out lubes the pump) does work, but it doesn't last as long as regreasing it. And you can get rebuild kits for when the piston and seals get old. And as seahouse said, they're ubiquitous on sailboats, like Atomic 4's and Yanmars.

Thanks, guys. Then that settles it. I'll go with one of the Jabsco line. Let you know when I "pull the trigger" or should I say "plunger"!
